About Camille Estelle
Camille Estelle, our little star, was born on February 19, 2012 to her loving parents Kyle and Casey, and older brother Kaden.
Her birth was surrounded by fear of the unknown as Camille was diagnosed in utero with Autosomal Recessive Polycystic Kidney Disease. Camille's kidneys were as large as an adults and were covered in cysts that rendered them completely nonfunctional. At a tiny 5 lbs 2 oz and only five days of age, Camille underwent surgery to remove both kidneys, a bilateral nephrectomy, and had a dialysis catheter placed. Camille recovered quickly, suddenly having more room for her lungs to expand! She was able breathe on her own a few days after surgery. She then began peritoneal dialysis and spent 102 days in the NICU growing and progressing until she was able to join her family at home on a cycler dialysis machine.
Recently, Camille and family were devastated to find that her liver is also significantly diseased with Congenital Hepatic Fibrosis and Caroli's Disease which will progress into liver infections and failure. Camille has displayed amazing strength through multiple complications related to the end stage kidney failure. Parathyroid dysfunction and bone fractures caused severe deformities to her lower extremities. Camille's team has increased from nephrology to a number of specialties including hepatology, endocrinology, orthopedics, along with physical, occupational, and speech therapists. Eighteen-months later, Camille continues to grow and is a great source of joy to all in her life! She is receiving 12 hour dialysis treatments daily. These treatments are necessary to sustain her life while awaiting what the physicians at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin have recommended; a life-saving kidney and liver transplant. An estimated $50,000 is being raised by volunteers for COTA in honor of Camille to assist with the heavy burden of transplant related expenses. Please follow Camille on her journey to and through transplant. Consider joining with us in granting the Osborn family wish of giving their little star a chance for a bright future!
